Description

Original autograph sheet from the 1924 games with eight signatures including some of the most important figures in the history of the games. Included of incredible significance is DeHart Hubbard from Michigan who was the first individual black gold medalist, Duke Kahanamoku who was one of the greatest swimmers of all time, Gertrude Ederle who was a champion swimmer and the first woman to swim the English Channel. Sheet also includes Euphrasia Donnelly (died 1963) who is a rare gold medalist swimme, Agnes Geraghty who was also a champion swimmer, Anna McCleary (swimmer) and Bill Kirschbaum from Hawaii (died 1953 and won bronze in swimming). An amazing piece with the Hubbard and Kahanamoku being worth the price alone!
Autograph was removed from the album of 1924 Olympian Ben Rothwell (boxer) and he obtained it in person on the steam ship "America" as he and the other Olympians we on their way to compete in the games. The entire album was authenticated by PSA/DNA and sold through Heritage Auctions. No autograph was destroyed in removing these from the book and great care was taken to preserve the historical integrity of the signatures. Please see my other auctions for hundreds more signatures from this incredible archive of Olympic athlete signatures.
