1924 BILL HAYWARD Oregon Track Legend Olympics Vintage Autograph (Died 1947)

Vintage autograph of one of the most famous track coaches of all time Bill Hayward from the University of Oregon. Signed as he was a coach on the 1924 Olympic team and on board the SS "America" headed to Paris for the games. He died in 1947 and this is one of only two examples (both in this book) we have ever seen offered for sale. A Hall of Fame worthy piece of track history!
Autograph was removed from the album of 1924 Olympian Ben Rothwell (boxer) and he obtained it in person on the steam ship "America" as he and the other Olympians we on their way to compete in the games. The entire album was authenticated by PSA/DNA and sold through Heritage Auctions. No autograph was destroyed in removing these from the book and great care was taken to preserve the historical integrity of the signatures.
